| Its Already Taken (IAT) is a Punk rock group based out of Albany, NY, a scene traditionally dominated by hardcore bands. But regardless of this fundamental difference in their musical styling, they have continued to try and rebuild the local punk scene since early 2002. Frustrated with how things were going in their hometown, they hit the road in the summer of 2004 across the country to try and find new places where there music could endure. Playing with all types of bands, from all types of genres and local scenes.
That tour brought IAT to Love Juice Labs in Riverside, CA where the band recorded a five song EP titled “The Love Juice Sessions,” Mixed and mastered by Dave Swanson. That EP showed the extensive range that the band has from fast hard hitting punk anthems like The Inner Thoughts to slower more morbid and calculated story telling ballads like Beautiful in Red. The EP is rounded out with the politically charged acoustic song, One Man, which leaves the listener craving for more tracks.
Since their summer tour the band has been hard at work for the past 4 months writing their debut full-length album to be recorded in January 2005 at Love Juice Labs. The emphasis of this new album is to be real. Real music, and themes that are part of everyone’s daily life, whether its politics or that your just having a bad day, or you feel lost, the album needs to speak to everyone, including ourselves.
IAT is a hardworking band that sets up its own shows and tours, puts out its own albums and continues to work hard at creating something that they love. This hard work ethic has earned the band a spot on The Vans Warped tour for next summer playing on the Love Juice Stage. This is an opportunity that IAT is very thankful for, as this will be an opportunity to showcase their debut album and with hope more touring, and eventual label support, the band will continue for many years to come.
