| J. Michael Hester
Michael was born in small town in South Georgia and grew up listening to the blues played in the various juke joints that served the mostly African American population of rural Georgia. He started playing the guitar on his 10th birthday with a gift from his parents of a cheap acoustic guitar bought at a jewelry store.
"My Mom had a red bow tied around the neck and brought it out at breakfast. I'll never forget that sight!" remembered Michael fondly.
After fronting a number of local bands playing the various covers of the day, Michael found his star as lead singer and rhythm guitarist for a critically acclaimed Southern rock band. After a brief tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd , a gold record and a Grammy nomination the band split leaving Michael and the other members to pursue other careers and raise families. But rock and roll was never far from his heart.
Now, after a wait too long, Michael is back with a new edge to the country blues and Southern rock that formed his roots. Hard rocking attitude, smooth vocals, warp speed licks, and the slide hand from hell propel the J Michael Hester Band to levels never conceived of before. The signature sound of a custom 7 string resonator guitar played to the maximum potential turn the "Dobro" into a whole new instrument. Never before has steel on strings sounded so nasty!
