You would think that after winning a competition to have a video made of one of their songs, “Before I’m Gone For Good”, by the BBC, having 2 World number ones on the prestigious extraplay.com, signing 2 Worldwide distribution deals, which has put their early works onto Napster and awhole string of other download sites, appearing on local radio, TV & Sky as well as in numerous local press articles and appearing at a whole string of top London venues in 2005, Norwich band JAGO would be sitting back congratulating themselves. Not a bit of it! Instead they have reinvented themselves with a whole new exciting, unique brand of Rock with a pop/punk edge (think The Only Ones meets Blink 182) and embarked on a mission to shake up the East Anglian music scene.
Around 500 fans packed into the Apollo in Harleston just before Christmas to hear a preview of the soon to be released “Hardly Mozart” album which is undoubtedly going to propel JAGO onto a national stage. There’s a whole new powerful edge to JAGO’s music and the driving guitars of Wayne Elvin (27) and Matthew Wilkinson (23), fuelled by the explosive beat of the wonderfully manic Danny Pecks (21) drums is extremely infectious. Combine this with their already legendary song writing ability and the passion and purity of Matthew Meads (27) vocals, and close harmonies from bass player Steve Renaut (26) and you have an arm twitching, leg shaking, earth moving, ground breaking, rule changing mix that you’ll want to hear again and again.
Oh yeah, and watch out for the dancing cows !
