Janeen Leah’s strong, yet beautiful voice has captured the attention of critics and fans alike. A self-taught guitarist, Janeen was writing music at a very young age and playing local coffeehouses in her hometown of Denver. At the age of 18, she headed for Hollywood to pursue her musical dream, perfecting her skills at the Musicians Institute. There she recorded her debut EP, “Melting in Hazel.”
With her 2005 release “Time Is Never Wasted,” her first full length, self-produced album Janeen is garnering rave reviews. It is a comprehensive work that deftly fuses rock with jazz, reflecting her wide range of musical tastes, which is confidently demonstrated in such songs as “Captured in My Own Mind” and “I Know.”
Influenced by such artists as Sarah Mclachlan, Jeff Buckley, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, Janeen successfully blends sophisticated musical compositions with poignant lyrics. Janeen engages her audience with her blissful, calm performance, whether playing with a full band or in an intimate acoustic setting. Music Connection sums it up best, “...pure, sweet, melodic vocals soared over a perfect blend of instruments as she performed each song, leaving the audience wanting more.”
Janeen’s recent relocation to San Francisco is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting 2007. Always writing new material, she has plans to go into the studio with long time collaborator, Keven Brennan, while continuing to play for her fans in Los Angeles and San Francisco and reaching out to make new ones around the world.
