Born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey, Orlando grew up in a musically inspired family. His two older brothers and older sister played piano throughout their childhoods, and one of his brothers has pursued music professionlly. This had a dramatic impact on Orlando. He first began his music experience singing for his church choir at age five. When he entered middle school, his mother thought it would be best for him to learn alto-saxophone in school band. He played through middle school and the first two years of high school, but then he switched instruments. When Orlando had entered high school, he became friends with two classmates looking for a bass player to form a band. It was only fun at first, but months later they turned their full attention to the group. At Princeton High School, they were known as one of the popular bands, performing weekly shows in New Jersey, and making it onto the 1998 H.O.R.D.E. tour. They recorded several times, and sold around one thousand copies of their material. Then high school ended and they went their separate ways.
After high school, Orlando started college in Washington, D.C. After his first year, he grew restless of classes and began to search for a musical outlet. He auditioned for drums in a four-piece rock group and they were immediately impressed with his keen sense of rhythm. They practiced and performed a few shows around D.C. and recorded a couple of semi-professional demos, but he never felt quite himself on the seat. He convinced the band to switch him to bass. They continued to practice and perform around Washington, D.C., but they were unable to dedicate themselves enough to capture the attention of record labels and radio stations. Senior year, the guitarist quit and the band broke-up. Senior year for Orlando, the guitarist quit and the band began to breakdown.
The summer and fall after graduation, Orlando took his ambition overseas to London, England. He joined a group after posting a flyer and for four months wrote, rehearsed, and played around the city. While there, he was influenced by his British band-mates and their styles of music. A sort of erie and dark reverb sound, he began to incorporate this into his playing. His London stay didn't last long however, as he felt compelled to return to the familiarity of the US.
Currently, Orlando lives outside New York City composing new material. He writes and records in his own studio- singing and playing each instrument- as he gains a following from performances at venues in the New York area. He is also attracting a large number of listeners from promoting and marketing online and at parties. His profile has consistently been ranked number one on the charts at Number One Music, and his profile has received 170,000 hits. One of his fans writes, " I think this is the most passionate thing I've heard in a while. It doesn't get much better than this." Regardless of the positive feedback, Jealous Mike has much more potential. He has high hopes for success in music and you can see it in his songs. As one fan writes, "You are ready for the big-time!"
