"With immediate comparisons of Tori Amos coming to my mind, Jennifer Yeung's storytelling, vocal ranges and writing progressions are right there with the Queen of shock. Her sweet, yet subtle performance attacks with prominent progressions of human emotion and beautifully suspenseful melodies." -BRIAN RUTHERFORD, MUSE'S MUSE "A very capable singer/songwriter, Jennifer Yeung's songs are expressive and thought provoking, sweet and invigorating." -CARMINE PASCUZZI, MEDIASEARCH (Music, Film, and Fashion) Australia "Dark, somber, moody Jennifer's music is very personal, like a journal and very inviting. The music is not edgy or hard but fantastic and melodic. The Emperor's Daughter is probably the most powerful song on her debut EP, Contemplate." -JEREMY BAKER, INDULGED.COM "With a haunting voice and enchanting original composition, Jennifer Yeung weaves a world of magic and wonder. It's hard not to find yourself lost in the stories she tells. She achieves this effect especially well with The Emperor's Daughter. No matter what you're doing, when this song comes on, you suddenly find yourself watching this beautiful princess standing on a cliff with the sun at the back telling her tale of love and despair. The world is in much need of music like hers." -CHRISTINE ROSE, ASU WEBDEVIL "I love your music. I love your material. It's unusual, and well written; a well spring of creative talent in there. You are not afraid to tackle some big subjects are you?" -ALEXA MACDONALD AND TOM AGOSTINO hosts of Folk Sessions KJZA 89.5 FM "A truly amazing score, "The Librarian". It's the best score yet for one of my films - complex, dramatic, and very well written. " -MATTHEW JAMES, screenwriter/director for MANKIND PICTURES "Jennifer Yeung embodies the soul of music. She opens her heart and willingly lets us all in when she is performing. She is a true work of art" -ANTHONY MAZZELLA, World renowned virtuoso guitarist "To be so young and so talented-I wait with anticipation for what's to come because each new song peels away another layer of her blossoming talent". This beautiful, musically articulate, and socially conscious artist is creating quite a buzz with her distinct melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and incredible voice. When asked where she gets her inspirations, Jennifer replied: "The co-existence of what we consider "opposite" fascinates me; the ugly within the beautiful and the beautiful within the ugly, or the mundane within the profound and vice versa. These views strip my analytical mind of judgment, and it allows me to realize that no one or no thing is inherently all black or white, good or bad. And this is the most beautiful distinction I can have." Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Jennifer began taking piano lessons at the early age of 6. This marked the beginning of a love-hate-love affair with music for almost two decades. At the age of 25, Jennifer decided to put her musical career to rest. Up until then, Jennifer had studied with world renowned pianists, Boris Zarankin and Marietta Orlov, at the University of Toronto. She earned numerous awards and honors, including a silver award at the National finals of the prestigious "Canadian Music Competitions" in Montreal, Quebec. It was merely one year after Jennifer's feisty declaration to abandon music forever that she found herself negotiating a relationship with it once again. With the support of her mentor, close friends, and advisors, Jennifer decided she would fully embrace and engage in an intimate relationship with music. Jennifer has performed at many prestigious venues including: ASU West Campus (Phoenix, Arizona), University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario), McGill University (Montreal, Quebec) and the Creative Life Center (Sedona, Arizona). Her musical influences include such artists as: Beethoven, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Tori Amos, and Fiona Apple, just to mention a few. When asked to describe her music, Jennifer replied with this comment: "I don't want to plant the seed for a pigeon hole fest. People already do that and at this point I just say "Hey-if you think I sound like that and it works for you....go for it!". Jennifer is extremely versatile and incredibly unique when it comes to her approach with her original material. One of her adoring fans had this to say: "Her music ranges from simple to innocent, from epic to monumental". Jennifer's musical creations in the past two years definitely reflect this. She has worked on a children's lullaby album entitled Dream the Ocean Blue (a 2005 NAPPA Parenting Publications award recipient). As well, she has written songs that delve into subjects like sexual trafficking and reincarnation. In the realm of films, Jennifer has composed the score for "The Librarian", "Daisy" and has contributed music to "Lucky", three projects by up and coming independent writer and director, Matthew James. Jennifer delivers breathtaking performances with her contemplative lyrics, lush harmonies, intricate melodies, a penetrating voice, and charming personality.
