My first influences were Elvis and The Beatles. I started writing song poems at nine and began singing and playing the guitar at fourteen. I started my first band PAX, around a year later in order to enter the Edna High School Talent Show.
By the early ‘70’s I moved on from pop to underground rock and blues. These influences were easily recognized when I started JENSEN, and songs like WIZARD and STREETWALKER emerged. The updated versions will be featured on my up coming cd release in January 2009.
In 1980 I formed BOIS D’ ARK and recorded professionally for the first time. With 2 different line ups, the band released two 45 rpm records (’80 and ‘85), receiving a spin on Victoria, Pt. Lavaca, and Wharton radio stations. The 45 was placed in jukeboxes within the 100 mile radius of Victoria, which included Corpus Christi, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.
A video shot for Channel 55 in Victoria aired for about three months. I have now reedited it and a shot I did at a bar, and you can see it on myspace. The song "DRESSED TO KILL" has been getting current airplay at www.powermetal.com.
After moving to Albuquerque in 1991, I began promoting bands from all around the world, to the entire world through compilation projects and newsletters. After a 13 year break, I am doing it again.
In the late ‘90’s I moved to Tulsa, OK, and in ‘99 became a solo artist playing guitar, bass, keys, and singing lead vocals. The following year RUN FOR MY LIFE was released, 2002 GOING BACK, TRIPPING ON LIFE, 2004; and my current 35 YEARS OF OBSCURITY”, was released in 2005.
My songs are reminiscent of ‘60’s soul, and ‘70’s rock and roll, hard rock and heavy metal. From soft ballads to head banging. One of the zines calls my style “Christian Biker Rock”. Well, I did play at a lot of biker parties back in the ‘80’s.
