Jezzebelle are a two-piece from Dublin, Ireland.
"...Their high octane-propulsion, and driving dogmatic rhythms mark them out from the crowd…"
- Siobhán Long (The Ticket, Irish Times - ‘Dirt Tracks’ album Review)
2008 so far for Jezzebelle has seen the release of the Potential Collection Volume 2, an acoustic compilation of upbeat songs by Irish acts associated with ‘The Zodiac Sessions’ (named Dublin’s finest Open Mic Night by Hotpress Magazine). Their track ‘Bad Seed’ is the opening song on the album:
"…You can hear the passion stream from this track (’Bad Seed’) with a nice upbeat acoustic folk blues feel. The vocals stand out pretty well as they simmer a bit like Janice Joplin early blues number but a sweet little tune..." *****
- T. Halpin (Music Review - ‘Potential Collection Vol. 2’ album Review)
"…A powerful and potential song…"
- Danny McElhenny (The Daily Mail - 4 star review of 'The Potential Collection Vol. 2')
To coincide with this release, the music video for ‘Bad Seed’ was launched in February and has since been featured on TG4’s POP4, City Channel’s Pure Music and on the web by Music Scene Ireland. The album was also named ‘Album of The Fortnight’ by Jackie Hayden of Hotpress Magazine in March. Jezzebelle will be live “In-Store” in Tower Records Dublin in May with other acts from The Potential Collection Vol. 2 to promote the album.
Jezzebelle can be seen a couple of nights a week at venues and open mic nights all around Dublin and for June, July & August 2008 they will be doing the same in Los Angeles California. In May they were back at The Carlsberg Rhythm & Roots Festival in Kilkenny for the 2nd year running. Right now, as well as promoting ‘The Potential Collection Vol. 2’ they are writing and recording material for album no. 2. Sessions Shays Studio (Galway) and their own Blue Train Studios will be added to recordings done in LA over the summer to produce the follow up to their debut album ’Dirt Tracks‘:
"…Dirt Tracks; a marriage of Acoustic Country Sass, Rock n’ Roll rhythms and Seductive Story Telling from two distinctive vocalists…"
- John Cleary (Kilkenny Advertiser - ‘Dirt Tracks’ album Review)
"…Katie Carpenter is in possession of a powerful, soulful instrument…"
- Killian Murphy (Hotpress Magazine - ‘Dirt Tracks’ album Review)
Following the release of ‘Dirt Tracks’ in February 2007, Jezzebelle won The Clonmel National Song Contest with their song ‘The Road Ahead’. This brought with it radio appearances on Newstalk’s ‘Taste’ and Fm104’s Open Mic:
"…Absolutely Great! Jezzebelle don't sound like anybody else around…"
- Fm104’s Open Mic with Ruairi Carroll
After also winning Dublin’s NOISE Concerts Battle Of The Bands, Jezzebelle played support to acts like Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy), Don Baker and Rob Strong as well as performing at The Carlsberg Rhythm & Roots Festival 2007. The success of ’Dirt Tracks’ brought them to be a featured act on both MySpace and The Independent Artists & Musicians websites. |
