It started out as a pretty ordinary evening. It was going to be a nice warm summer night. A group of friends had assembled at a home in the suburbs of Detroit awaiting to go downtown to see a ball game. A few of us were standing on the porch waiting for others to arrive when.....
an old boat of a car like a 72 Bonneville slowly pulled up in front of the house. The driver was haphazardly attempting to parallel park this giant monstrosity on the street. We began to wonder what was wrong with this guy since he had more than a 30 foot space between cars but was having extreme difficulty getting the thing parked. After about five minutes of watching the driver continue to struggle, backing in, pulling out, turning around, backing in again, pulling out, trying to go head in and then eventually getting it parked at an odd angle in the street, the driver's side door swung open. Out popped a 6'-7" 150 lb kid dressed like Bazooka Joe. He closed the door and proceeded up the front lawn.....skipping. When he reached the porch he strectched out his hand and said in a high squeaky adolescent voice, " Hi, I'm Jimmy Pepper!" I turned to my dear departed friend Jim with the same befuddled look that he was giving me and busted out laughing. It was quite an exclimation point to the farcical events we had just witnessed a few moments earlier.
The gang got it together and made it's way downtown. We continued to talk about the peculiar but very amusing experience of meeting "Jimmy Pepper." Little did we know that meeting him was just the start of ever growing experiences and incorporation of that meeting into our lives. Over the next few years, the memorable experience became an inside joke amongst friends. Over time it somehow morphed into a fictitious corporation that we wanted to start to right all the injustices that other giant corporations had perpetrated on all of us. Of course we decided it would have to be called "Jimmy Pepper Inc." Over the last seven years it has grown into a gonglomeration of a band, record company, recording studio, Foundation to assist Senior Citizens with dental issues and three regional divisions. Corporate headquaters continue to be located in the over taxed, financially devestated but lovely state of Michigan with a southwest division office in Arizona and a northwest division in Washington state. We even have our own business cards and now we're on the world wide web!
We've always complained about the various types of customer service we have received, mostly poor and frustratingly comical, from other large corporations over the years. So it seemed fitting that when we came to a title and theme for this instrumental album that we would call it "Jimmy Pepper Inc. Customer Service-Our Priority." We hope you enjoy. Contact our customer service department with any issues but don't expect any helpful answers. Just plenty of attitude. LOL
"Customer Service-Our Priority" was written, recorded and mixed from September 2007 to March 2008 at JP Inc Studios in Chandler, Arizona.
