John Massoni first formed A Western Family in 1983, a kind of Joy Division meets Orange Juice flavored band. In '86, Weather Theater was formed and released the cd DUSK throughout Europe.
A 1990 experimental project yielded some limited release EPs through Blast First in London and culminated with a show there and some positive press. From there several projects were worked on but little came to fruition except for some appearances on compilations.
Pete Kember aka SONIC BOOM from SPACEMEN 3, worked with John on some of his ambient works while staying in Seattle which later came out on the SPACEAGE RECORDINGS label titled THE SUNDOWNER SESSIONS. This was later followed up by a full length cd called STILLBORN DREAMS in 2003. Though these recordings are completely instrumental, John also has been making several compositions with vocals all in a leisurely fashion befitting of an elder statesman and occasionally putting on a live show. |
