At 33, Josh Kirkland still calls his Mother "Mama" and speaks with a cool softness, not only is he a southern gentlemen, he is an intense guitarist. From the swamps of southeast Georgia, born in Waycross, and raised on Southern Rock and Blues, Josh has been performing half of his life, playing various styles of music from country to rock.
Josh became fascinated with the guitar at an early age, after recieving his first guitar for his 13th birthday, he began cutting his teeth on 80's rock but soon found himself being drawn toward the blues.
Over the years Josh has supported such acts as Rick Derringer, Pat Travers and the Marshall Tucker Band. 2002-2004 Josh found himself touring as a tribute to the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan, leaving audiences stunned with his renditions of SRV classics. Josh has now emerged with his own music.
Josh's first studio release "Blues Fallin' Down Like Rain" is a six string odyssey, full of fiery guitar & soulful vocals. You hear all of the influences, but there is more. While influenced by the likes of SRV, Albert Collins, the three kings (Albert, Freddie and BB) and Johnny winter. Josh has evolved his own distinctive style.
MOST RECENTLY, out of thousands of blues artists worldwide Josh Kirkland was picked as a Top Ten Finalist in the Blues Idol Competition (http://www.bluesidol.com).
