Native American poet Kaluyuti turns to music to get his messege out. Kaluyuti is from the Onyo'ta a:ka First Nation of the Thames just outside of London Ontario Canada. In 1997, Kaluyuti released a book of poetry entitled "Room To Be Friends: confused and untrained thoughts"
He has since been an activist with Wiich Ke Yig (London Chapter of C.A.S.N.P.), a board member of N'Amerind (London)Native Friendship Centre, Art exhibition organizer, guest host of Smoke Signals First Nations Radio Program, and web designer for various non-profit Native and non-native organizations.
As an active volunteer in various community groups on a number of levels, Kaluyuti has been exposed to much hostility, anger and racism which he feels must change. The education must also be given to all avenues of the community to ensure everyone is aware of what we have done and what we are doing.
As a result, Kaluyuti has written a number of poems that he has been inspired to recite over music and is now presenting this music to those who will listen. This is not a way of making money, but a way of educating and enlightening people of all nations that things must change and to share his experiences, so that we can all learn from them.
Kaluyuti presents Native music with a new attitude.
