Kate Grealy is a singer, songwriter and guitarist based in Melbourne, Australia who entwines the traditional Folk style of story telling through song with rich jazz vocals and guitar.
Her musical life as a performing artist began as a clarinettist with her High School's band at the age of twelve. After taking up the guitar at fifteen she started to write and began performing her original compositions at the age of sixteen at open mic afternoons.
She has spent the last four years show-casing her songs around Melbourne, touring regional Victoria and New South Wales as well appearing at several festivals and community events.
Kate also performs with two of Melbourne's most exciting emerging songwriters Eva Popov and Rene Sephton in The Halcyon Tide, a stunning group to look out for.
Kate has recorded four CDs since 2001 and is anticipating the release of an EP next year. She is also in her final year at university, completing her anthropology/politics degree.
Joining Kate on stage are wonderful fellow artists Alastair Watts on double-bass/cello, Vini Melzak on guitar, Eva Popov on piano and vocal harmonies, and Rene Sephton on vocal harmonies.
