Im a experimental phonic artist currently unemployed in Hull. I am interested in Music/Phonic Production and Performance, Film, Technology, and Art. My work is usually made with existing technology, e.g. Laptops, computer consoles, televisions, synths and keyboards. Experimenting is the only way forward for me.
Ever since I can remember television and music have influenced my brain in ways that I have never know. Realisation of this phenomenon has made me want to research the culture that it has influenced and also influence others myself by creating my own eye and ear candy. Though I have found that not only scheduled recordings alternate and influence your reality, but live performance and events have similar effects. Changing channels, plug-ins, modifications, the want for development is ever lasting. What’s also interesting is that when I perform these modifications, I am customising it to suit my own needs and giving the instrument/gadget/medium individuality, making it a one of a kind. Warp Records has been a confirmation to me that experimental sound is the development of music.
I like to create the sense of complete absorption in my work when time and space is abandoned and the true nature of our existence is questioned. Site-specific performances, experiments and collaborations with other artists have contributed to my work, which also invites audiences to experience live art and it provides new opportunities. I get a lot out of organising and curating events, which bring people together in to a creative environment. By bringing work together also, produces a package of work creating a similar environment.
Diversity and spontaneity are interesting parts of the work and can inspire the urge for spectators to collaborate or join in. |
