Kevin Lyttle is THE major player on the soca scene. His mixture of soca, dancehall and R&B have etched his name in history and made him one of the most respected men in the music world today.
The self-titled "New Soul Of Soca" was born on the West Indian island of St Vincent. From the age of seven, he had a burning desire to become a soca artist a desire that came from watching Michael Jackson in concert and also watching the unsigned talents in the yearly Road March King in the St Vincent Carnival.
The teenage Kevin wrote his first song at 14 and went on to become St Vincent's biggest singing sensation, representing his country in tournaments throughout the Caribbean.
2001 was the breakthrough year for Kevin. He wrote and recorded a song called "Turn Me On". The song was massively successful in the underground St Vincent music scene and its success culminated in amazing airplay in the club and on the radio throughout the West Indies and led to Kevin performing the song at the St Vincent Carnival. This inspired Kevin to unleash this monster of a song on the charts with amazing results
In 2003, Kevin sent his song global. Staying at number 1 for 10 weeks in Denmark, number 2 in Germany and France for 7 weeks and in the top 10 in Britain for 7 weeks culminating at number 2.
At the present time, Kevin Lyttle's self-titled albulm :"Kevin Lyttle" has debuted at number 8 in the USA Billboard 200 and his next single: "Last Drop" is nearing its release date. If you ask me, I think that the world is about to be awakened to the joys of soca by a man called Kevin Lyttle...
