A Theory & Composition major and songwriter, Kim has written music that has received airplay on commercial radio, music beds for both radio and television spots, and serious pieces performed by brass and woodwind ensembles and choral groups around the country.
Kim's first release, Funkmaster (2006 Sweet Pickle) an instrumental Progressive Rock-Jazz-Fusion project, has been acclaimed and appreciated for its range from "incredibly beautiful" to "absolutely smokin'." One tune from this project is currently the theme music for the very popular podcast Washington Travelcast.
The long anticipated release of a few hard miles, is schedule for the end of March 2007 (Sweet Pickle). The album was co-produced by Jon Mathias, and features such well-known artists as Wayne Nelson (Vocalist & Bassist for the "Little River Band;" Rob Whitlock,a highly regarded jazz keyboardist who has been featured with such artists as "Chris Potter," "Fattburger" & "Kathy Lee Gifford;" and Drummer, Duncan Moore, who has done session work with "Livin Out Loud," "Randy Driscoll," "Jazzooo" & the "Bob Magnussen Quintet." Additional musicians include Dennis Caplinger, renowned folk & bluegrass producer/artist, and a regular with "Tim Flannery and Friends;" celebrated San Diego Drummer, Paul Chapman; and vocalists Caroline Martin, who has sung on title soundtracks for five movies including Steven King's "Sleepwalkers" and Disney's "Jungle Book;" popular local San Diego singers Sheryl Roccoforte & Dianne Day; and former Arista Records artist Jeddie Day. |
