With high hopes for the future and enough determination to fly, singer/songwriter Kimberly Freeman has already managed to kick up plenty of dust in Eugene music scene. Having only been strumming her faithful old guitar for a year, she is already regularly preforming side by side with the great variety of musical talents that come though Lane county area. She has shared stages with artists from nearly every genre of music (anything from punk and heavy metal to jazz), which has helped her to develop a rather unique following of listeners. Her music seems to spills freely past any typical boundaries and classification as it is her singing and her lyrics that tend to capture the audiences attention.
Kimberly’s voice is beautiful. It possesses a remarkable clarity, but can also convey the raw emotion often present in her lyrics. Most songs include her own subtle guitar accompaniment that helps to set the tone of the piece without obscuring its meaning by overwhelming it.
Her lyrics yeild a very unique and poetic form of story telling that adds an indescribable depth to her style of songwriting. Some of her songs include lighthearted selections infused with humor that deliver smiles and laughter to the faces of the audience. Others are deeply moving and utterly heart wrenching, often capable of bringing her audience to silence and tears.
For just a little girl and a guitar, she delivers a captivating preformance. She carries a particular sweetness and honesty in her set that can soften even the hardest, most conflicted soul. Almost effortlessly she can genuinely connect with her audience and engage them into a journey of self discovery, story telling and silly fun.
Few leave her performance without a rising sense of inspiration.
