| The nucleus of The Kindred was formed in the spring of 2003, when drummer Jon put out a "band wanted" advertisement on Gainesvillebands.com. Bass player Kevin and guitar player John responded, and the aformentioned hoodlums began to jam. Fastforward to the fall of 2003, when the three hoodlums were reunited after a debaucherous summer. The realization hit the boys that they needed a second guitar player in order to fulfill their potential; thus, roomate and guitar player Paul was brought into the fold. Finally, the boys decided that they didn't want to be some wacky instrumental band. An S.O.S. was sent out over gainesvillebands.com in search of a singer, and hoodlum #5 (otherwise known as Matt) was brought on board the good ship Kindred. With influences ranging from Bad Religion, Strung Out, and Thrice to Darkest Hour, Every Time I Die, and Small Brown Bike, The Kindred's music is truly eclectic. It combines melody, harmony, rhythm, and chops that rival Yingvee Malmstein's for a musical mix the likes of which haven't been heard since the glory days of ABBA. Be sure to check out The Kindred if they come to a town near you. |
