| THE KING CHEETAH formed in London and, along with several other London ne'er-do-wells who'd become bored with the diminishing returns of 'Britpop', founded the notorious and influential pansexual rock 'n roll clubnight, Kitsch Bitch.
The band cultivated a devoted following in merry old London and released a single, "Schemin", with MAXIM of THE PRODIGY. Soon after, though, the band became restless and fucked off to California.
In 2002, after re-locating from London, THE KING CHEETAH began to regularly play live in Los Angeles. This caught the attention of fellow Englishman MORRISSEY and the band was invited to open for him on his 2002 North American tour. The band received wide praise from reviewers and concert-goers alike.
After the tour, the band returned to Los Angeles and continued their constant gigging with regular appearances at THE SCENE, THE KEY CLUB, THE DRAGONFLY and KISS OR KILL. At a show at the tiny M BAR in Hollywood, THE KING CHEETAH came to the attention of SPITSHINE RECORDS' Ryan Revenge. Impressed with the energy of the trio's live show, Ryan suggested a partnership between the band and the label to put out a record.
Then, in June 2004 THE KING CHEETAH embarked on a successful five week recording stint which resulted in THE KING CHEETAH L.P., a collection of nine powerful rock songs. The album was released on May 31, 2005. The band is spending the remainder of 2005 supporting the record. |
