King Rebel in Mathare slum 21st April 1982 spends most of his childhood growing up in the Redeemed Gospel church in Mathare Community. He went to Strathmoth High School, after leaving school he took up employment in the public sector, because of his love for computers he started studying to become a computer engineer. His interest in Rastafarianism started from as far he was a teenager but because he was raised in the church in a Christian home he couldnt let his belief and interest manifest until he was independent. At one point his parents realize he had the tendency to become a Rastafarian and they gave him a fine warning that if he chooses that route they would? In January 2006 King Rebel recorded his first piece at studios called? Jah Family Records? Destruction. Months after that he was signed to a new label called jah family productions . He began practice his art by rehearsing and performing with Redeemed gospel Church. For a while he took on the stage name "Jesus Christ" and voiced tracks with several internationally renowned DJ's. In more recent years, he further honed his singing and performing skills with formal voice, speech and guitar training. Together with R.G.C youth choir and some of the best musicians Kenya has to offer, he began recording 2006 under the stage name "King Rebel" in 1993King Rebel was one of the children were sponsored by Paul Holt's family in Kenya. Since the 1992 until now he is the one and only remains with Paul Holt. Paul is the one who produces slykid music. .King Rebel got music career in Redeemed Gospel church. He was one of the church choir youth. In 1996 King Rebelwas among the youth went to sing live in K.B.C TV in program called Banding Club. I had to go to church every Sunday and often during the week as well. I was a member of the Redeemed Gospel Church junior choir and later the senior choirs where I was the lead singer. I just love singing and going to church. However, when I started to attend Jamuhuri High School, I started hanging out with a new set of friends, things began to change and we would go to parties where sound systems like Boogie Down and Levity sound would play. I really began to like the music and went through a period of conflict which later resulted in me drifting from the church." King Rebel was one of the children who were sponsored in R.G.C Mathare. He is now working with jah record. King Rebel has worked with new wave Rock Sound.Boggier Down Sound along side with High Priest Shabba and Nesta Revolution Sound. The former choir leader became a selector for the Nesta Revolution Sound system a system on which many of his close DJ colleagues such as DJ Samo, High Priest Shabba, Saint Crooner, Tony, Kim and Jessie also worked out. By this time, he had been renamed King Rebel by his friends. As he gradually moved on to singing at these parties/sessions, the response he received was encouraging DJs King Rebel will never forget Later Papa lefty, Papa Charlie, Prince Otach (he was the youth in Action those days. The minister of dancehall reggae in Kenya who is ruling now with sound in Kenya Simple Simon the man you cant miss his Action with Black supremacy sounds.
