Biography

The very beginning of KMFDM was in the year 1984. The multinational Artist group “Erste Hilfe” should perform on stage for the opening ceremony of a Vernissage in the Grand Palais in Paris and still looked for a band, which accompanied this Vernissage with music in the background. KMFDM was founded by Sascha Konietzko and Udo Sturm at this time and shortly after Raymond “Pig” Watts and En Esch on the drums completed the Line-Up.

Even if the first unreleased album “Opium” only existed on tape in the underground music-scene of Hamburg, so KMFDM left the musical underground purposeful. In the end of the 80s, when a hand full American Industrial-Bands conquered the Charts, the time came for KMFDM too to get public. They signed a contract with the Label “Wax Trax” in Chicago, and shortly after they performed as supporting band for Ministry on tour. They got a very good Feedback, and because of that mastermind Sascha Konietzko decided to move the home of KMFDM to Chicago in the beginning of 1991.

The first tour as the headliner on stage in the USA was the very next step, where they presented their new album “Money”.

Short time after the Label “Wax Trax” got bankrupt, KMFDM found no point in staying in Chicago. Sascha moved to Seattle and En Esch moved to New Orleans. In Seattle the albums “Xtort” and “Symbols” got produced, on which the Line-Up got expanded with guest-musicians.

In January 1995 KMFDM broke up and with the album “Adios” they released a last greeting to their fans. En Esch founded a new project called “Pizza Whore”, while Sascha, together with Tim Skold (ex-Shotgun Messiah) and ex-Drill-singer Lucia Cifarelli, celebrated a come back on stage now called “MDFMK”.

With the change of their label and the renaming into “KMFDM” the Bombast-electronics reported themselves back to the fans with their new album “Attak” in 2002.

Also the differences concerning the future musical development didn’t remain.

Originally sold as a reunion of the band, the original-fans were disappointed, since a renewed collaboration between Sascha, En Esch and Günter Schulz never happened.

Also Bill Rieflin (b) and Raymond Watt (g/voc) appeared more like alibi-figures.

Their influence on “Wwiii” is immersing questionable, nevertheless Raymond and Bill, Steve White (g) and Andy Selway (de) show up in the booklet.

Sascha strongly pronounces his vexation at US president Bush and the political crazed rampage in Iraq on this Cd however he does not manage to conceal some musical lengths.

On the following Tour through the US they took some technical staff and cameras with them and recorded some moments of their everyday life on tour as well as Gigs.

In the end of September 2004 the DVD appeared in the stores and isn’t only a must for the original-hardcore-fans of KMFDM.

for fans of Tim Skold, check out his old band simply called Skold they r pretty good industrial from about 1995 also Shotgun Messiah which is umm well haha Tim Skold in a hair metal band from like 1991	ZeroWipeOut
