Kool Moe Dee is one of those overlooked rappers, better known for his beefing with LL Kool J than for the quality of his raps over sparce, understated beats.
Check out the track "50 Ways" with it's creepy folky hook alongside the syncopated lyrics. A true masterpiece that is way, way too overlooked.
Kool Moe Dee was intelligent, egotistical and a great MC. If you have the rare ability to listen to lyrics in term of their depth, most of Kool Moe Dee's music can keep you interested and engaged for quite a length of time.
