Label:Kusha Deep
Artist: KU
EP Title: The Pressure
KU are a very soulful rock band currently signed to Kusha Deep Records. They come from South East Of England and made up of 3 members, Darragh.J.Brady (Vocals,Piano,Guitar) Joel Franks, Guitar, Julian Franks(Drums)
Gary Ayers (Bass).
The sound they create is a mixture of genres from bluesy soul to dub rock underpinned with some classic song-writing, drawing on classic rock sounds of The Small Faces, The Who to the super soul of Motown and Stax for a rudder to the steer the KU ship by.
The last EP titled ‘Heads Up’, went into the top 40 independent charts in Australia, play-listed on US radio stations such as 107 FM in LA, WCH radio in St Louis and M3 Radio in New York, and has also been picking up support in the UK through BBC Yorkshire, BBC Southern Counties, Juice FM Brighton, Pulse Fm, Spider Bait in Manchester, and various other ILRs around the country.
The band have just recorded the follow up The Pressure with Julian Tardo who produced music for the legendary label 4AD and currently owns and runs Church Road Studios in Brighton. The EP has 3 tracks which show of the KU sound perfectly, energetic, passionate, mod driven soul with more hooks that a butchers back room.

It sends a delightful shiver down your back. Before moving your head and feet in much the same way a puppeteer does with a marionette.

The Pressure single track is currently being played on BBC Radio, Clint Boon Show XFM, (UK)Pulse FM (UK + USA),Engage Radio (USA),UIC Radio (USA) Smack Music Network (USA),Blow Up Radio (USA) Sonic One Radio (Canada), Oklahoma Web Cast TV (USA) Green Dragon (UK) and Ison radio in Australia.
The Pressure track is a homage to the 9 to 5 monotony which eventually sends the character mad, the lyric sums up the seven day week hustle to survive in a country that seems to be losing its foundation, mixed with a relentless groove that snaps at your heels like Bill Sykes’s terrier.
The two other tracks ‘Something 4 The Weekend’ deals with the routine weekend escape from the weeks reality while ‘Start Again’ brings it all back again, come the Monday. Who said concept music was over.
If your looking for a band that’s got more going for it than a couple of chords and a distortion pedal then KU might just be the tonic you’d choose.
The Pressure EP will be available through Kusha Deep Records, Itunes and record stores, with a UK tour being organized for 2007.
