| The artist K.U.P, born Ricardo Campbell, at the Jubilee hospital in Kinston Jamaica. Was raised in the grimiest ghetto’s (Tivoli, Water house, Half Way Tree, etc) until faith would have him settled in Manchester ( big up Porus!). After graduating from Knox High School where already the music bug infiltrated his blood stream, the streets became his family as his Mom was in America holding down all eight kids without help from NOBODY! Running the streets with his cousin and getting in all types of trouble, music was the therapy that eased the reality of life. Listening to Bounty Killer, Beanie Man, Buju Banton, Garnet Silk, and too many more to list was apart of the daily routine. It wasn’t till 95 when Biggie Smalls dropped ‘Warning’ which was redid reggae style by Scare Dem Crew that hip-hop earned a place in K.U.P’s heart. Soon after, the flowing started, and everyone in the streets, especially the veterans, gave the name that’s branded onto Ricardo’s arm as a reminder of the hard life of the island. K.U.P (Kept Up Potential, Konstantly Under Pressure.) God smiled on him and he was fortunate to come to the states and began making a name for his self at studios and freestyle circles, as that crazy Jamaican cat. In 2000 he hook up with Lyrox and paired off to form a group that was loved by many and hated on by more. There are no scores to settle, no beef to cook, just a movement waiting to surface and when it does the public will love it trust me. |
