After taking up the guitar eight years ago, the singer-songwriter from Kansas began playing live shows in 2001. “There’s something amazingly exciting about taking something that you’ve created and throwing it out into the world - seeing how it connects with people,” says Moreland. “The ultimate evening for me is getting a group of people together with some music and hopefully giving them something more than what they came there with.” And that’s exactly what his audience gets. At the core, Moreland says his message is “that there is a world of life to be lived that is beyond our sight but not beyond our reach - and living in light of this is the hardest and best thing you can ever do.” With influences like Dave Matthews Band, Derek Webb, Waterdeep, and U2 (which he cites as the greatest band of all time), it is easy to see why Moreland’s music is so musically and lyrically rich. After an evening at a Kyle Moreland show or a first listen to his album, the listener is sure to walk away with a whole lot more than they arrived with.
