The current band line up is:
John Garcia - Vocals
Josh Homme - Guitars
Scott Reeder - Bass
Alfredo Hernandez - Drums
In the past different people have played bass and Brant Bjork used to play drums, but John and Josh have always been in the band and seem to be the leading influences.
They were on Elektra Records (yeah, a major...).

What the hell does the word KYUSS stand for?
This is a question that almost everyone asks. Here's one answer from Shane Snyder:
> Please excuse a possible obvious answer to a stupid question, but what
> the hell does the word "kyuss" mean anyway.
When I saw Kyuss several months ago, John (singer) hung out by their Winnebego
after the show, rappin' with a bunch of kooks who were down on their knees
worshipping him. (He's rad, but noone deserves worship). Anyways, someone
asked what Kyuss meant. His answer was "It is a character from Dungeons and
Dragons. But we only used it because we thought it was a cool name. If you
were to look it up in the dictionary, it would say 'Four guys from the desert
playing kick ass rock and roll' '', or something to that effect.
Another person on the list, Jon Ellis added to this in an e-mail message on the list:
Kyuss is thingee from the old D&D game. There are monsters in a really old
book called Deities and Demigods called the Sons of Kyuss (hence the name
of the first album/single). The monster, originally from the Newhon Tales
by Fritz Leiber, was removed from later versions of the book, Legends and
Lore, due to copyright shit. I originally picked up Blues because I thought
the name was cool and remembered it from my long ago days playin' the game.
Another person on the list typed in the actual reference from the Fiend Folio book.
Another definition I've heard had something to do with a scrotum sack.... it was an acronym, something along the lines of: Kiss your Ugly Shaggy Scrotum. For some reason that's just not an appealing thought.
So there you have it, the complete etymology of the word "Kyuss".
Oh, and the way you pronounce it is "chi-uss" (the "chi" is hard as in "kite" or, "kai").
