P.O.G. ENTERTAINMENT
Company Biography
P.O.G. Recordings was founded by its CEO Charles Fisher in 1998. The company is represented by a talented group of executives that have combined their years of experience, resources and creative skills to compete for a share of the $40 billion dollar music industry. To be successful today record companies must be more creative and work much harder because of Internet piracy and bootlegging. To neutralize this problem we have developed new and innovative marketing strategies to help us meet our bottom line. We are committed to making music that not only entertains but also promotes positive images and lifestyles for young people, who represent a major share of the CD buying market. We believe that companies today have an obligation to be more socially responsible to the needs of the community, especially when the moral character of our youth and young adults is in decline.
For over 29 years Charles has devoted his time to both the social service and entertainment industry. This unique double-edged sword provides P.O.G. with the progressive ideas we need to be competitive with the majors. As an entertainment business executive he managed the careers of Actor, Author and two-time Grammy-award winning recording artist LL Cool J and the Lost Boyz. In 1990 he co-discovered and signed R. Kelly to his first professional recording contract with Tavdash Records. He later negotiated the blockbuster deal that signed R. Kelly to Jive Records who has now sold over 35 million records worldwide. Over the years he has worked as an entertainment consultant to a host of companies and celebrities such as Russell Simmons, Quincy Jones, Michael Jordan, Def Jam Recordings, UPN 9, Major League Baseball and many others.
In regard to his social service experience Fisher\'s commitment to the community includes the creation in 1978 of Youth Enterprises and Associates, a private non-profit organization providing a variety of services that address juvenile delinquency prevention. He also helped LL Cool J create the Camp Cool J Foundation and served as the executive director for 7 years. In addition, he worked as entertainment consultant to former President Bill Clinton and the White House to help launch the AmeriCorps program. In 2001, Charles founded the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council, Inc., which has established itself as an effective voice for the nation\'s youth by showing them how to constructively use their time, talent and the 10 billion dollar Hip-Hop Culture to address a host of issues that confront them daily.
P.O.G. Records President Randy Fisher oversaw the release of the “King of Kings” Edu-tainment Soundtrack. This unique and innovative project, which is a double CD, offers Hip-Hop and R&B music on one disc, while teaching about the dangers of drugs and the importance of school on the other. The CD features such artists as 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Mr. Cheeks, Andreus, Black Child and many others. Celebrities speaking words of wisdom on the second CD include Jay-Z, Rev. Run, Russell Simmons, Dr. Ben Chavis, Fat Joe, Kevin Liles, P. Diddy, and Memphis Bleek.
“We understand that the future of the music industry is in the hands of our youth and young adults, which is why it is sound business policy to focus on their social and academic needs. After all, they listen to the music, watch the videos, set the market trends and buy the CD’s. We are committed to help prepare them to meet the tough challenges they will face in their lives so they can graduate from school, obtain meaningful employment and become successful law abiding citizens” said Randy Fisher. Our years of work with grassroots organizations in communities across America have allowed us to maintain a strong relationship with the “Streets”, which happens to be the driving force behind Hip-Hop & R&B music. “The success of the company will be determined by our ability to discover the hottest new talent, secure quality producers, develop a creative marketing team, and serve the needs of the community” ended Charles Fisher.
The company’s most recent Philanthropic initiative is their “Hip-Hop 4 Peace” Benefit Compilation CD and Documentary. The project was created to raise Awareness about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World. Funds raised will support the mission of the Hip-Hop 4 Peace project, United Nations Agencies and its affiliates, as well as the United Service Organization (USO). 24 songs from some of the top artists in the industry will be placed on the CD, which is scheduled to be released in September 2007. There will be single releases in April of 2007 by the legendary R&B recording group the Persuaders entitled “Baghdad Tonight” and also by new Ghetto Metal, Hip-Hop Rock-n-Roll King Oow-Wee, entitled “No More War”, to support the album. Through this CD and Documentary we will solicit the support of Celebrities, UN representatives, Executives, Elected Officials, World and Community Leaders to address issues that effect the growth, development and future of our children. The label has a joint venture with Lightyear Entertainment and is distributed by EMI.
