2004 saw the launch of Judmusic Publishing, Judmusic Records and Recordiau Menai Records to cater for the growing number of clients with finished or near-finished works.
Recordiau Menai Records deals exclusively with the Welsh Language releases.
The first release on the Menai label was “Triwch Hi Ar’ by “Cofi Bach feat Tew Shady”, a Welsh language Hip Hop track written by Kerry Walters and Gronw Roberts.
The track quickly gained a massive amount of airplay on Welsh radio and S4C Wales with a video of the track featuring on the S4C music programme “Bandit” presented by Huw Stephens from BBC Radio one, who also championed the track on his Radio shows which culminated in a Radio session at Maida Vale in London.
The track was licenced to the Welsh Music Foundation and the Welsh Language board for inclusion on a compilation C.D. of contemporary Welsh music, cover-mounted on a magazine for distribution to Schools in Wales, entitled “Dan Y Cownter”, 10,000 copies were printed.
Cofi Bach was also nominated at the Welsh Music Awards in February 2005 for “Triwch Hi Ar”.
Subsequent releases on the Menai Record label include: Rhian Mostyn “Scene E P”, Ryan Kift “Ar Goll” and Gareth Wyn with “Yr Unig Un”.
All of the artists signed to Menai Records have enjoyed massive radio play and appearances on several S4C Wales music and magazine television programmes. |
