Leigh Stephens has been creating his version of "American " music for over 35 years. Recently acknowledged by Rolling Stone magazine (RS931-Top 100 guitarists of all time) and Guitar World magazine (3/4/2004--100 All Time Greatest Metal Guitarists), Leigh has always gone his own way. From his acknowledged legacy with Blue Cheer to his accomplishments with assorted solo efforts, Leigh has forged his way through what HE LIKES in American music and played what he wanted to play. This recent edition finds Leigh interpreting everything from Elmer Bernstein (Theme to "Magnificent Seven") to Van Morrison (In to the Mystic) to Burt Bacharach (Baby it's you). He touches on everything from traditional Blues to contemporary "Pop"-----with a bit of commercial America thrown in. Through it all, Leigh is at his best----playing it clean and pure and just having fun. Isn't that the way it should be?? Leigh's new cd, "High Strung Low Key", is available now.
As a special effects technician and artist, Leigh fabricated and painted a variety of creatures, animals, automobiles and insects for the motion picture industry. Films include: Dances With Wolves, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Abyss, License to Kill, Gross Anatomy and Tremors to name a few. Leigh is also an accomplished artist and is currently working on a series of fine art paintings that will be available soon.
On "Ride The Thunder" Leigh teams up with Melissa Olsen, Eric Chun, Ryan Goodpastor and Ron Stone. The project was conceived to place a song on a Taxim Records Blues compilation entitled "Fourth Wave of Bay Area Blues". They decided to record an entire cd.
