From the peaceful streets of Pontypridd, South Wales dwelled the elite force of Lostprophets. The six simple welsh guys started off hungry for a way to express their depressions of school with their musical talents, Ian Watkins, Lee Gaze, Mike Chiplin, Mike Lewis, Jamie Oliver, Stu Richardson later experienced similarities between their musical tastes and personalities.

Thus, the birth of Lostprophets.

However, at the age of just 16, it was Ian’s and Mike’s idea to start a band together to form a hardcore band to name themselves, ‘Public Disturbance’. After a thriving impact on the London Underground, Lostprophets slowly began to retreat back to concentrate more on other important events, such as, finishing University.

But finally, in 1997, with all their struggles behind them, Lostprophets set forward back into the music industry developing more melodies to introduce to the rest of the world. Ian firstly started off playing drums in the band, although the others were more impressed by his unique vocals style rather than his drumming ‘abilities’. It was then that Mike Chiplin was to join the group as their full time drummer.

As the band was complete, they immediately began writing songs and putting melodies together like there was no tomorrow. They produced a small demo and began playing countless shows and local gigs. ‘Metal Hammer’ magazine managed to get hold of the band’s demo and rated it ten out of ten. The word soon spread as more and more media intakes got hold of their music, thus spreading around the world like wildfire.

Through all of these publications, major record labels from all around the states took them into account.

But out of all these numerous offers, Lostprophets chose Visible noise and Sony and quickly began work on an album. They then released ‘The Fake Sound Of Progress’ in November 2000, which was then later released in October 2001. The release of their debut single, Fake Sound Of Progress’ and fan favourite, ‘Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja’ were huge hits.

The band soon received high praise from the media, and substantial amounts of recognition. Lostprophets conquered the states soon after the album release and played numerous tours for 2 months in March. After a long rest in hibernation, the band returned with the hard-core hit single ‘Burn Burn’ in 2003, which wiped through the U.K and America. But the fans didn’t have to wait long for another breath taking song to hit the airwaves.

The band quickly released their anthem, ‘Last Train Home’ that became a huge success that lingered in the U.K charts for weeks. Their other single releases ‘Make a Move’ and ‘Last Summer’, released in 2004, also pushed the sales of their album, ‘Start Something’. The album was so incredible, that it easily reached number 3 in the U.K album charts. All their fine efforts had successfully paid off and Lost Prophets had lived the dreamed they’d always hoped for. But I doubt very much that this will be the last we hear from them

i think they always make the same kind of music every thing they make sounds the same, but i do like them, because i like the sound of them. i don't really think i could listen to them all day and i don't think off bying a cd of them	Semicolon_the_band
