"MALON. An intense writer of eclectic dreamscapes."
These are songs selected from the compact disc entitled,'INDOLENT EXTREMES'. INDO. X has 14 songs and ARE available on isound for download. Through you I live. Enjoy, and live NOW.
This is my music which I wish to share. There is no fixed category for this music, the style and form of each song serves as a vehicle for the message within the song. Those who label have, at times, called my songs folk, disco era, new wave, rap , chamber music, synth pop, blues, soul, electronica, ambient, 80s, classical, punk, reggae, jazz, new age, and an assistant district attorney once called it crap (but her mother loved it). You can judge for yourself, I suggest you just say its cool and new. In a lifetime, or in a day for that matter, a person experiences an array of emotions. This music is an attempt to accurately capture in sound what I have felt and to portray my reactions to these feelings. Considering the varied styles of the works, Im confident that you will find something that youll enjoy listening to. I am now saving money to improve my studio so if you would care to toss a dollar or ten to a starving artist then please go to www.isound.com/malon_malon and download my creations. All of this music is original and Im ASCAP affiliated. My personal journey has been a wild and long one; an absolutely amazingly fantastic one. Ill have more on that later. I have different approaches to writing lyrics. Some lyrics stem from brainstorming with the beat or the melody and then going back over to insure coherence (or incoherence depending on the song idea). Brainstorming usually taps my inner consciousness and brings to surface the concerns of my inner being (or soul if you will). Another method is to stand alone in the mirror and looking directly into the eyes, consciously evaluate my becoming. Being brutally honest with myself, I give myself the advice and commands I require for self improvement. An example of this method in use is the song entitled The Laughing Game. Most of the songs on the album were motivated by my relationship and the circumstances surrounding the death of my dearest Nikishea Shondel R.J. and its aftermath. It is now so tempting to tell you of the love she had for me and others but Ill try to stay focused. The form of my lyrics often derive from the traditional poetic forms noted in The Poetry Handbook, par Deutche; one of my favorite little books. Many times the song creates its own form as I attempt to adhere to form but, for the best interest of the song, I cannot. Musically, I generally start with a theme and expand upon it. I have various methods of development, dare I say too many to mention, as well as theme and melody generation. This approach to my music is inspired by but not limited to the great composers of classical music from Ludwig Van and Mozart, to Schoenberg and Debussy. I do enjoy the diatonic scales of musical composition (and variations) for the emotion each one conveys, but at this present stage in my life I feel my most expressive key is the E-flat M and the corresponding Cm. After this key I prefer the majors F, B flat, G, A, A flat, D, and E. After these, come F sharp and C major. As of late, Ive been using the jazz bebop scale more and more. When a melody comes and clings to me I will build around it or dissect the melody and concentrate and build to it. I have approximately 230 songs to record and group into albums. I have even more ideas for songs and melodies to be developed. Instruments I use vary but primarily feature piano, percussion, violin-cello, bass guitar, and lead guitar; Acoustic and electric. I sometimes feature other musicians and enjoy helping others with their projects/productions.
INDOLENT EXTREMES! features these songs:
In a Day
Pains
The Laughing Game

I may soon incorporate some rap music lyrics into my music, but this genre and style will always be my first love. Without doubt! |
