On April 24th, 1986 a musical talent unparalleled entered this world. From an early age, Marcellus Long exhibited an extraordinary gift and passion for all things musical. Marcellus has devoted numerous hours to the assiduous study of song. As an adolescent, Marcellus was a member of the celebrated Oakland Singers groups Prelude and Encore. With these musical troupes, Marcellus was flattered to perform in the Bahamas, Florida, and Pennsylvania. During these performances, Marcellus was chosen to perform several solos. A highlight of Marcellus’s early musical career with the Oakland Singers was when he had the honor of singing at the famed Fox Theatre for the Radio City Rockettes.
He has performed, to rave reviews, in several musical theatre productions, with lead roles, including Guys and Dolls, Me and My Girl, How to Succeed in Business without really trying, and Anything Goes. Simultaneously, Marcellus dedicated his spare time to composing music and lyrics to showcase on his own future album. Yet, Marcellus also found the time for humanitarian efforts with the Boys and Girls Club of America and the Lighthouse Foundation. Due to Marcellus’s charismatic personality, he has worked extremely well with young, underprivileged children, who all adore him. One of the highlights of Marcellus’s community service projects included his stint in Project Trust, where he would perform educational musical skits provoking hundreds of poorly treated children to reflect on their experiences with abuse.
Marcellus proved that like many triple threats in Hollywood, not only could he sing and act, but he also is an excellent mover, as exhibited in his nearly sold-out performance with the Detroit Piston’s premier dance team, Automotion, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Marcellus’s talent has garnered much attention and many awards, including MAEB production and outstanding disc-jockey personality. In the fall of 2004, Marcellus had the distinction of entering the world’s most prestigious, and biggest, contemporary music school. Alumni of Berklee College of Music include: Quincy Jones, Melissa Etheridge, John Mayer, and members of the group Maroon 5. So far he has achieved great success there. He has benefited from working with some of the top vocal coaches in the nation, and connecting with many other young and talented aspiring musicians. Marcellus is determined to meet success, and will strive to obtain his goals with all his strength. Marcellus’s number one priority is to touch as many people as he can with his music.
