After the dissolve of their former band Anadivine (The Militia Group), members William Manley (Guitar/Vocals) and Justin Meyer (Drums) vowed to keep playing together in order to pick-up where they had left off the musical trail. Their musical goal was clear: to create a tension between grunge rock and ambient instrumentation. After playing in Anadivine for roughly three years with five national tours under their belts and two international releases, they were ready to continue to play music and get back on the road again full time. Only one problem stood in their way; finding other members as committed as they are to traveling, recording and playing music. Their search for such a person was soon over when long time friend and musician, Andrew Maikels, stepped into the position of master and conqueror of the 6 string and pedal board. Soon after, they found Jordan Roland to fill the shoes of bass who, after hearing the demos of the band, dropped everything in order to pursue music full-time. With the addition of Maikels’s schizophrenic orchestrations Roland’s bass antics, The Median was born and underway. The quartet quickly gathered a catalogue of songs and started playing shows wherever and whenever they could. Soon after, they headed into Nada Studios (New Windsor, NY) and recorded with long-time friends, John Naclerio and Paul Caberello. The four-song demo you are listening to was derived from two separate sessions, one in October ’06 and one in January ‘07. As in Anadivine, Meyer’s and Manley’s simple song writing philosophy carried on to The Median, which is to write what is retched out of their hearts and marrow, and to treat each song as its own entity in hopes of making each song as good as the last. We thank you for listening and we hope you enjoy.
