Hello Chan, I am here. I have been hiding here waiting for someone to come wondering into this remote music area so that I could sneak up behind them and go "BOO" hahaha
So have u actally heard any of her stuff? What did u think of it? | GrayBeard |
Whoo! Hello!
Okay, I posted this in the Tiger Army forum before I realised you'd posted here...so I shall say it again. :)
She released an album early last year, which I think actually did quite well in the UK (well, for a artist who's not that mainstream, anyway). The album was generally good, but a few songs in the middle let it down by being a little bland.
The opening and ending songs were the strongest: I think that "Followed the Waves" particularly is brilliant, because the guitar part is quite dramatic. She has a good voice, though she doesn't really sing with much conviction. | spottyslippers |
You know Chan, I just love ur posts! This is what these forums are supposed to be about! Talking about music. Ppl like you and Becca actually talk about various elements of the music, like in your post above.
Now why can't I get some of these ppl who just post foul stuff about bands they don't like to see how immature that is? | GrayBeard |
Now back to Melissa. So u think it is a strong enough of a cd that it is worth buying? At the time I read about her I remember thinking I wanted to get her cd, but I just forgot all about it.

Well, it doesn't sound much like Hole; the music is a little less poppy (well, "poppy"'s not really the right word...it's less upbeat, though without being pessimistic), so being a Hole fan doesn't necessarily mean you'll like Auf Der Maur. I think she's probably a little more stylish. It's quite different, but without really being unusual - the music is just not the type that is hugely common at the moment (if that makes sense...).
I might be able to send you a couple of the best tracks (ug! technology!) via E-mail, if you would like...I don't really know whether to recommend the album or not! | spottyslippers |
