Memphis Belle is a rock and roll band hailing from the Southern California desert, striving to return the heart and soul from days of old to today's music. Drawing upon many influences--including classic rock, roots rock, blues, and jazz--they have merged the sound of a dying era with modern-day appeal. This combination produces a truly unique sound of energetic, guitar-driven rock that, when combined with a passionate, captivating live show, leaves the audience enthralled.
Edwin Ortiz (guitar, vocals) and Jeremiah Johns (bass) formed the band in early 2003, and were joined shortly thereafter by Daniel Schaaff (lead guitar), formerly of Dizmas and Custom Deluxe. Daniel's brother, Tim Schaaff (drums), joined in March of 2005, and JR Goleno filled the role of bass guitar for their summer tour. The summer of 2005 proved to be eventful for Memphis Belle, releasing their debut full length "Faith, Hope, Rock 'n' Roll," playing such festivals as Tomfest and Joshua Fest, being featured on the Extreme Tour, and gaining national exposure through a serious road accident that left Edwin with a broken back and the rest of the band shaken. Despite losing their van, trailer, gear, and money, they overcame this hardship and resumed their tour within just three weeks. Shortly after finishing the tour, Jeremiah Johns returned to the band, they played steadily throughout California, and began to write and record new material.
Memphis Belle is currently embarking on a nine-month national tour, capturing audiences across the country, including performances at GMA, Cornerstone Festival, and with The Extreme Tour. With an exceptionally strong work ethic and loyalty to the music, they continue to strive toward success. |
