Experimental musician, composer and sound designer creating music that is like everything you have heard before but unlike anything you have heard before, thus making it totally unique.
Experimental musician, composer and sound designer influenced by the likes of Klaus Schulze, Robert Schroeder and Tangerine dream to name a few of my many influences.
I was born in 1964 and my parents were always big music fans, (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies) and as a result I developed a love of music early on in my life.
Around 1975 I began to discover and listen to the music of the likes of Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Tangerine Dream and Mike Oldfield. Then, in 1976, a French man by the name of Jean Michel Jarre released the classic album OXYGENE!!!!!!!!!
I always wanted to create music by in the style of the people listed in my influences/heroes section but it is only over the last few years that has become a reality, thanks to the advances in computer software.
I have recently been revamping my laptop set up as I bought an Apple Macbook and it is so much better than using windows for music creation and production.
I use Reason 4 (or at least I have for the last eleven days since I got my upgrade to the new version). The new sequencer offers some really interesting and innovative ways to create layers of sound which gives the music a much more Human feel.
I also use Ableton Live, as this gives me the opportunity to both create my own original parts using an array of VST and AU software instruments and FX plugins but also to make use of the many royalty free loops that are available out there.
Amongst the VST instruments that I use are:
Absynth 3
FM7
CS80v
Greenoak Crystal
and Virsyn Terra 2.
Anyway, I hope that you like music if you have a listen to it.
Best wishes from Mindwalk2007......
Some of my favourite all time albums by influences and heroes;
PARADISE (1983) by Robert Schroeder..... This is a great album and makes fantastic use of the PPG WAVE 2.3, especially for choir sounds. The first tow tracks.. MOMENTS and IN MEMORY OF PARADISE a truly outstanding.
ENCORE (1977) by Tangerine Dream..... Recorded live during the bands first US tour, a truly outstanding album that makes great use of the Mellotron, the firts sampling instrument.
FORCE MAJEURE (1979) by Tangerine Dream..... Another great album that makes use of the synths that were designed by Wolfgang Palm (founder of the long defunct PPG company)...
ANGST....(1984)....by Klaus Schulze..... This is another favourite album and makes great use of the Fairlight CMI....
ZOOLOOK...(1984) by Jean Michel Jarre. Another album that makes great use of the Fairlight CMI and it also contains more samples than you can shake a stick at.
Another highlight of my long interest in EM was attending the UK ELECTRONICA festival back in 1983. One of the acts that performed during the afternoon was Ian Boddy (who did the sound design for Morphology, Outer limits and Analogue Sequencer Loops from Zero G). Ian performed material from his first vynal release THE CLIMB and used a Yamaha DX7, the first time that I had seen or heard this legendary instrument.
SOUND LIKE!!!!
