Biography

Mudvayne consists of Kud (Chad Gray, vocals), Ry-Know (Ryan Maritinie,
bass), Guurg (Greg Tribbett, guitar), and Spag (Matthew McDonough, drums).
Mudvayne, a heavy metal plus band, calls their genre of music “math
metal.” The group was formed in Peona, Illinois in 1996. Mudvayne
immediately gained a large fan base in Illinois due to their stage
antics and crazy performances. The group began touring. Mudvayne’s demo
album was entitled Kill, I Oughta. Shortly after its release, the group
signed a deal with Epic Records. In November 2001, Kill, I Oughta was re-packaged
and re-released as The End of All Things to Come.

Mudvayne’s debut album with Epic Records was entitled L.D. 50. The album’s
title is a reference to the pharmaceutical count of lethal dosages for
a person to overdose. L.D. 50 was produced by Garth Richards. Mudvayne
also received help from Slipknot’s Shawn Grehan. Two singles from the
album were “Prod” and “Death Bloom.” The group received positive reviews
from alternative-rock press. Although much was positive; critics
claimed that Mudvayne was copying Slipknot. In truth, however, the two
bands are actually very different. Mudvayne began touring once again. In
2002 Mudvayne won the first ever MTV2 Video Music Award at the 2001 MTV
Video Music Awards.

On November 19, 2002 Mudvayne released their second album with Epic
Records entitled The End of All Things to Come. The album was recorded
at Minneapolis’s famous Pachyderm Studios. The group worked with Tool
producer David Boitril. The album’s first single was “Not Falling.” The
second single was “World So Cold.” The album as a whole was very dark
and cynical. The group appeared at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards
dressed in matching white suits. They each had fake gashes with blood
dripping down their faces. As a means of celebrating their new album,
the members of Mudvayne changed their already strange personas to that
of alien personas; Chud (Kud), Grug (Gurrg), R-ud (Ry-Know), and Spug (sPaG).
Mudvayne also embarked on a European tour. They came back to the United
States in July to perform at the “Summer Sanitarium Tour.” The tour
also featured artists such as Metallica and Linkin Park.

hehe, actually it's also my first post to this mudvayne forum. and i'm just a lil' kid... and i like da song happy...but who mother fcuking cares? all i care is what i hear. Happy? opened my eyes to Mudvayne. I first thought Mudvayne was another heavy metal band, heavy metal was not so popular in my country. After happy i visited their site www.mudvayne.com and listened to Determined and Forget to Remember. Determined actually opened my mind to listen harder and heavier music such as Slipknot and Mudvayne itself. can't say i like this song most, but from what i hear from Mudvayne, Dig, Determined and Happy is my current favorite. crap i never had a chance to listen to other song like world so cold. Anyway u cant deny Happy? is a great song coz it actually opened my mind to Mudvayne, like what Toxicity did for SOAD for me.	Chemical_Head
