The Murder City Devils were formed in late 1996, from the ashes of many bands such as; Area 51, the Cleavers, Tunstin Gat, Unabombers etc. They began playing a few shows around the Seattle area and started their first tour in 1997 along the west coast. The original line up consists of Spencer (vocals), Dann (guitar/keyboards), Coady (drums), Nate (guitar), Derek (bass/keyboards), and of course Gabe (roadie). The released thier first self titled 7inch on Empty Records, thier second 7 inch, "Three Natural Sixes" on Hopscotch Records, then finally around 1997 they released their first full length on Sub Pops imprint label, "Die Young Stay Pretty." Which is what got the band pretty well known along the west coast areas. After touring a little while The Murder City Devils released their 3rd 7 inch, "Dancin' Shoes" with a song called, "Tokyo Gold." In September of 1998 they released their second full length album on Sub Pop records, "Empty Bottles, Broken Hearts" and ever since then, they have been touring almost non-stop every where around the US a various parts of Canada. After the release of their second full length they added a new member to the band to go on tour with them named Leslie Hardy from bands such as Juned and Love As Laughter to be their full time keyboardist. Then around December they released their limited edition Christmas bonus single with Leslie on keyboards instead of Dann or Derek. They're still touring a bit from the release of Empty Bottles Broken Hearts, but are do for a new album June of 2000. Their latest releases have been a few split 7 inches, one with Gluecifer and another with Botch.
