Agent Steel are a power thrash metal band who were lead by founding members John Cyriis (vocals) and Juan Garcia (guitars), who were both formerly of the band Abbatoir. Cyriis has those high pitched vocals that people liked or hated. Agent Steel released their first album Skeptics Apocalypse in 1985. Skeptics Apocalypse was a raw, yet powerful thrash disc which was a big hit in the thrash world. Their second album Unstoppable Force was outrageous. It puts hair/glam bands like Motley Crue and Cinderella to shame. To say Unstoppable Force is better than their first album is an understatement. The dynamics and harmonics on this album is teriffic. Agent Steel know when to slow down and when to speed up; better yet, how to make it sound good. Unstoppable Force, however, would be the band's last release until in 1998 they reformed under a new vocalist (Bruce Duncan) and pushed out The Omega Conspiracy in 1999. Also, in May of 2001, Agent Steel changed their name to "Order of the Illuminati." Allegedly due to "the original vocalist (John Cyriis)." This didn't slow them down. In 2003, Agent Steel went back to Agent Steel and released their new album, "Order of the Illuminati." To sum it up, Agent Steel are the example of how speed metal should be played in the new millenium, not this garbage that you hear today.
