Mya Harrison was born on the 10th of October, 1979. At an early age she took dancing lessons and improved her skills in tap and jazz. It was only at the age of 16 when her father discovered her talent for singing. He submitted a demo tape to Interscope Records and the gave her a recording contract. She worked on her debut album for a couple of years until in 1998, it was released. It was titled \"Mya\" and it hit Top 30 on the Billboard charts. The album collaborated with such performers as Missy Elliott and Sisqo. The first single, \"It\'s All About Me\" was released earlier that year, and charted suprisingly well, going on to peak at #6 on the Billboard singles chart. The second single, \"Movin\' On\" was released in early 1999 and did not fare as well, peaking at #34. The third single was a Deborah Cox cover of \"My First Night With You\" from Deborah\'s first studio album. That peaked at #28. Later that year, Mya teamed up with Beenie Man on his reggae song, \"Girls Dem Sugar\", taken from his album, \"Art & Life\". In late 2000, Mya released her sophomore album, \"Fear Of Flying\". It went on to climp it\'s way to Top 20 and platinum status. The first single, \"Best Of Me\", featured Jadakiss and peaked at #50 on the Billboard charts. The second single, \"Case Of The Ex\", was a huge worldwide hit and climbed the American charts to peak at #2. In Australia, it debuted in the Top 5 and was a #1 smash hit. \"Free\", the third single, peaked at #42 in America and #4 in Australia. Also that year, she, Pink, Christina Aguilera and Lil\' Kim got together and recorded a song for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. It was titled \"Lady Marmalade\" and went on to top charts all around the world. She was quiet for a year but her third LP,\"Moodring\", was released in the summer of 2003, competing against Ashanti\'s sophomore release, Beyonce\'s debut and Monica\'s third album. It debuted on the charts at #3 and spawned two hit singles, \"My Love Is Like...Wo!\" & \"Fallen\". \"My Love Is Like...Wo!\" peaked at #13 and had a very seductive and fast-paced music video. \"Fallen\", however, was very underrated and only peaked at #51 on the Billboard chart. Since then, she has recorded a tsunami benefit song with Brian McKnight, FeFe Dobson and many more. Her fourth album, \"Control Freak\" is scheduled for release in September or later. She has described it as very energetic and grungey. Two of the songs on there will be, \"Escape\" and \"Blame Myself\" which she described as having very honest, empowering lyrics. Hopefully, we will see that album in our stores very soon. Anyway, for now, grab a copy of \"Moodring\", \"Fear Of Flying\" or \"Mya\" at your local store now.
