She’s been hailed as “the new age Mary J Blige,” and Nakisha Smith writes and sings from the heart. “ I make music from experience,” explains the Coatesville, PA native. She knew she wanted to pursue a career in music at age 8, soon after hearing EnVogue’s “Funky Divas” album. Nakisha can recall vividly the days when she used to make her own songs with her karaoke machine. Now at the age of 23, Nakisha has matured into an amazing songwriter and vocalist. She has even been nicknamed a “woman’s voice,” because so many of her songs speak directly from the hearts and minds of women all over. This is evident on songs such as, “ Not Runnin Back,” and “ It’s Best I Leave,” where Nakisha paints pictures of the female experience in intricate detail.
Nakisha has put on numerous shows throughout her tri-state area, and she has received nothing less than a standing ovation after each one of her soul – stirring performances.
