| Northern Liberties formed in the year 2000 in the basement of the Catbox in west Philadelphia. We played our first show in this same basement in February of that year, with Captain Crash and Myles Of Destruction. We have, since that point, stumbled forward with awkward and strange steps. We have released a seven inch record, "Easter Island", and a seventeen song CD "Erode + Disappear" in our own way, on our own time, on the Philadelphia non profit micro label Worldeater records. We have released several small run live CDRs in editions of 23 copies each. We have embarked on two small tours, one of the midwest United States and the other of the southern states. We spread like a cloud of blood underwater, growing thinner as we blossom into infinity. At the farthest reaches of our influence, our existence is felt on a purely non-linear and abstract level. Our spark is present in many places and times, since our music is not an isolated entity. The day will come when all the songs will blur into one song, and all the throats will form the same vast, unimaginable word. It is towards this moment that we labor. For the time being we cloak ourselves in the garments of our own kind of music. We utilize bass, various kinds of drums, voices, and things that modify sound through the use of electricity, magnets, circuit boards, and paper cones. We are primarily a traditional "rock" band, proudly taking part of the blood and salt water pulse of the rock and roll beat and structure. However, we see no point in purely mimicking the rock and roll of the past. We draw many influences together and boil them down until we can channel them. The main concern is with conveying emotion and in self expression, with this of course leading to any number of other things. Your assignment is to help us on this journey. We are lucky to share each other in this same moment in time and space. Surely we are happier when we sing and dance together, wouldn't you agree? Surely it would be preferable, in this one single life you have been blessed/ cursed with, to DANCE and HAVE A FREAK OUT than to smother to death under the burden of insecurity. Today is the only day you and I have. Open the window, breathe the air. Watch the bombs coming down, but don't let them curse and hex your mind. You must protect your own soul. All of our songs are your songs if you want them.
Our goal is to change the world.
We have already succeeded.
We hope to see you at the rock and roll show!
