Lead singer, Tim Schneider hails from Portland, Oregon. His rich baritone voice has been compared to such legends as James Taylor and Kenny Rogers. Tim has been voted Songwriter of the Year as well as receiving Portland Songwriter Association's Song of the Year award. He has also been nominated five times for European Country Music Awards (ECMAs) and was winner of Song of the Year on an independent label for his song "Me, the Moon, and the Radio".
Rhythm guitarist, Gary Bunning, also hails from the Pacific Northwest, Seattle, Washington. The son of a "Word Music" recording artist and graduate of the Guitar and Vocal Institute in Hollywood, CA, Gary has shared the stage with the likes of Shenandoah and Exile. His groove-oriented guitar and rich harmonies give One Mile South a distinctive sound.
After arriving in Nashville, each independently began performing in the local songwriter rounds. They soon realized that writing together produced a unique sound and thus formed their group One Mile South (OMS). In 2003, they were approached by MoMoMusic's head of artist development, Abby Montgomery, to record a CD. With the help of producers Darran Smith and Denny Hemmingson, not to mention a great team of A-session players, the CD hit the streets mid-February, '05.
The CD was produced by Darran Smith (2004 Award winning co-producer of Tim McGraw's CD, Rain) along with Denny Hemingson, member of the Dance Hall Doctors and producer extraordinare! As a pre-view, the CD is currently available on www.onemilesouthcd.com, CDBaby.com and towerrecords.com.
Having performed last summer (2004) on the main stage in Wisconsin at Country Thunder, USA, OMS has established themselves as a new sound for Country music lovers everywhere. Chosen to be the highlighted emerging act for the syndicated radio show Live From Smokey Joe's, OMS will be performing songs from their self-titled CD. Their radio tour continues through 2005 and OMS will return to the studio in the spring of 2006 to record their follow-up CD.
Their national radio tour continues to increase their fan base considerably as Country radio embraces their acoustic live performances. Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming have all shown a love for their sound!
Robert K Oermann, music critic, Music Row Magazine, writes: "Macho sounding. I dug the whole thing, from his expressive baritone to the rumbling rhythm section. Sounds to me like these guys deserve a major-label shot."
Billy Block from Western Beat Radio writes: "Soaring harmonies, well crafted songs and sparkling production make One Mile South the most exciting new prospect for major-label attention."
Brad Fischer from Nashville Music Guide writes: "Music row missed out on this one, but as always there was an Independent Label there to pick up the pieces...These guys know their stuff, you'll love their songs..."
KKNG "King Country" Radio states: "The group the rest of the country will soon be talking about..."
One Mile South’s latest single, "Make Something Of It," is currently moving up the Music Row Chart is being spun on radio stations nationwide and in Europe. |
