The band started in Southern California, only six months before their first album was released, the band decided to, and recorded their album right away rather then getting tired by playing at clubs every night for their friends. Although the group's look set them apart from other bands, their style was very unique and was new to the ears of Korn's Jonathan Davis. Orgy was the first band to sign to Korn's label, Elementree Records. Being brought onto the Family Values tour had Candyass quickly achieve platinum status in America while only adding on to the shock of being signed within six months. This gave Orgy a taste of some mainstream exposure. The bands popularity grew, and was well known for their cover of Blue Monday. The band got more popular every hour.
Orgy’s first single was self-composed and unsuccessful. Orgy’s first US, and widely popular album was Candyass. The album contained a different style of music, new to, and approved by every listener. "It's pretty much just all bullshit," says Jay. "We conjured up a bunch of lies and fairy tales." The record was recorded in Tahoe, after long days yet even longer nights, the record was done. The album is a great example of what Orgy was capable of. Ryan, the co-writer of Korn's hit song Blind says, "It's kind of like death pop. Our songs are all just slightly deranged, but I can definitely hear them on the radio. Don't look for any more meaning than that."
This unique band includes, vocalist Jay Gordon, guitarist Ryan Shuck, bassist Paige Haley, guitar synthesizer Amir Derakh, and drummer Bobby Hewitt. The members came together in 1997 that were all veterans of the LA metal circuit. The unique style and clothing keep Orgy ahead of everyone else. Orgy always has something new and unexpected to amaze and please their fans with.
