DimeBag DEAD!!!!! OK i just found out an hour ago from a freind DIMEBAGE DARREL was shot and killed onstage playing a show in a nightclub with DAMGEPLAN, IM so fucking pissed right now, I havent seen one message board post anywhere about this, and hell i had to creat an account here just to put one in much less find one somewhere, maybe im jsut slow. I recently came home from BCT or basic training, and to see someone who started and created their own fucking ARMY of fans that would have killed for him and his previous bandmates of PANTERA is just sickening. The word is the fan was angry and in his mind Dime was the soul reason Pantera broke ways. Im so fucking angry i can barely describe it much less spend time on spell checking so please bare with me. Pantera was a monsterous machine of heaviness that will never ever be replaced by anyone EVER, They are the kings of my music collection regardless how dusty the albums get or how much they are or arent being played. If you ask me Phil is the only reason Pantera broke up, ok not the only but for christ sake, dimebag did everything in his power to bring this group back into the spotlight, he tried to get into Phils head before his Drugs took control, but its obviously to fucking late for that. And if you dont think Phil is fucked up on drugs, just read the interviews, look at the pics, is he grimacing of evil like the old phil??? Is he wearing short sleeves or long ones that cover his track marks all the way down to his glove covered hands and just sladning there like he can barely keep his fucking eyes open???? Phil turned his back on a legion of madmen and souther metal fans that could never have been broken or stronger, hell a pantera crowd would silence any otehr crowd, even Metallicas without hesitation or much effort, Im just going to say it becasue its fucking true and only the people who have all of the cd's dvd's and vhs know what the hell im talking about, and all i can hope is that they fucking respomd to my post in some way positive or negative and at least show some kind of emotion, feeling or apreciation for what Dime did with Pantera and what pantera did as a band and still are doing even though they are not. hell i wish, i just fucking pray I could lay some of this on Phil Himself. I picked up the microphone and began singing when i saw what someone like him can do, I mean come on people, he was one big assed deep voiced redneck that could hit the lowest shit easily but when he fucking screamed to catch the high ones he did it with a bit of insane pleasure that made it look simple, I will always remember them in one of their most TRU PANTERA forms when they were live in Moscow, the crowd that covered several acres, surrounded by baton wearing gaurds that pummelled anyone that got out of "control" to this which phil could do nothing except push his band harder, heavier, and more forcefully so his fans could rage on despite all of this, then as he introduces Primal Concrete Sledge and the just fucking errupt, it was magical and monsterous to say the least, im sure u can download this video or just get the DVD its on there as well. Phillip A. will continue on slamm dancing showing remances of the Bushwackers from WWF if you aske me :) right next to Dimebag as he slams and swings his guitar over head later just to hold it and inch from the ground strings facing the stage floor and rip out a heavy assed solo and keep fucking going. Ok ill wrap this up, Pantera was a force that was the push that made ME move and that is for sure, He was only continuing his love for the music with damageplan, which honostly didnt do much for me but this tragedy is by NO MEANS AT ALL deserved. This act by this fan was sad and pathetic, and if Pantera's split up was so upsetting to him maybe he should have went to the real source in this case in my OPINION Phil. PERIOD, thank you for reading my blowing off of steam. Let me know how it makes you feel.

It's just fucking sad..... I couldn't believe it when i first heard, a little over an hour ago, and still cant believe it. And it's amazing how much i've had to search to find a message board too! (well one that WORKS anyway, they're all completely jammed....no surprises there though) but yeah, i created an account here so I could just say something, just somehow express my OWN sadness at what's happened, and pay my respects to a wicked, awesome guy.

I heard about that yesterday. I like Pantera, but I haven't heard a lot from them. I'll definitely check them out now. Does anyone know if they'll replace him? | St_Michael |
I heard about Dimebag getting shot yesterday, i think, but i didn't hear that he died til this morning. I wanted to cry so much. and i still do. on the radio they read an e-mail from a guy who was there and it was really sad... but then the guy said that his ticket stub had blood on it so he was going to sell it on e-bay. yeah...the e-mail said that the fan was yelling that Dimebag was the reason Pantera broke up and that he ruined his life...talk about fucking irony... he was insane or something and he jumped the gate to get in. R.I.P. DIMEBAG! | cLaNdEsTiNeGiRl |
This is indeed a sad day for rock/metal fans everywhere. Also a sad day for musicians who knew him and toured with Pantera and or Damageplan. Dimebag is a guitar god and legend. He didn't deserve it. Nobody deserves that. I hope Vinnie Paul is alright. I'm now gonna go listen to Pantera. R.I.P. Dimebag. We love you. | riff_master |
It's always a sad day when a good musician dies, however I'm not affected at all by it because I'm not a Pantera fan. None the less, this is a huge shame...But what a way to go down! | AIC4LIFE |

Here's pretty much the full story:
By Jay Cohen
The man who shot former Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and three other men to death at a nightclub was obsessed with the heavy metal band and made bizarre accusations against the group, a one-time friend said.
Nathan Gale apparently believed Pantera musicians were trying to steal his identity and the lyrics to songs he had written, former friend Jeramie Brey told The Columbus Dispatch in Friday's editions.
Gale, 25, charged the stage Wednesday at a show by Abbott's new band, Damageplan, and gunned down four people including Abbott before a police officer shot him to death. Two others were wounded.
Investigators said they may never know Gale's motive. Some witnesses said he yelled accusations that the influential heavy metal guitarist broke up Pantera, but police had not verified those reports.
Brey and former friend Dave Johnson said they had become frightened by Gale's behavior and distanced themselves from him several years ago. By that time, Johnson said, Gale had begun talking and laughing to himself and once appeared to be holding an imaginary dog.
"He used to be Pantera's No. 1 fan and has liked them for as long as I've known him," Johnson told the newspaper. "After a while something happened. He just kind of snapped. He went from being a cool guy to being a guy you didn't want to be around."
Johnson said he met Gale, known as Nate, in the late 1990s through a mutual friend in their hometown of Marysville, about 25 miles northwest of Columbus. They shared a love of rock music, held jam sessions and attended concerts together.
Brey recalled that Gale once showed up at his house with some songs he had written, but the words appeared to be copied from Pantera. Gale told Brey he planned to sue Pantera over the lyrics and for stealing his identity.
An imposing figure at 6-foot-3, Gale had made people uneasy at a Marysville tattoo parlor, staring and locking them into conversations about heavy metal music.
When he played offensive line for the semi-pro Lima Thunder football team, he psyched himself up before games by piping Pantera music into his headphones, coach Mark Green said.
"He seemed like a normal guy you would meet any other day," said Anthony Bundy, 20, who lived on the same block as Gale. "He was a keep-to-yourself type of person. He was real quiet."
Hours before the shootings, Gale got into an argument with a worker at the tattoo studio over some equipment he wanted the studio to order for him. He later angrily walked out of the shop.
The worker, Bo Toler, said he thought Gale had come to the tattoo parlor because he wanted somebody to hang out with. "I just thought he was quiet. I thought he had low-self esteem because of his thick glasses," Toler said.
Gale had had minor run-ins with police since 1997 but wasn't considered a troublemaker, authorities said.
He served in the Marines in North Carolina until November 2003, when he was discharged after less than half of the typical four-year stint, Marine spokeswoman Gunnery Sgt. Kristine Scarber said. She declined to explain the discharge, citing privacy rules.
Gale's mother, Mary Clark, did not return phone messages seeking comment.
The violence at the Alrosa Villa club came just after the opening chords by Texas-based Damageplan, the band formed by Abbott and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, after they left Pantera. Gale dodged two band members, grabbed Darrell Abbott and shot him at least five times in the head, witnesses and police said.
In less than five minutes, Gale had also killed Erin Halk, 29, a club employee who loaded band equipment; fan Nathan Bray, 23; and band bodyguard Jeff Thompson, 40.
The band's drum technician, John Brooks, was released from Riverside Hospital on Friday, said Sgt. Mark Allen of hospital security. Tour manager Chris Paluska was in stable condition.
Vinnie Paul Abbott thanked fans for their support in a statement the band released Friday.
"With all his greatness and accomplishments on the guitar, DIME will be missed more for his giving personality, charisma, caring for others, love and most of all his HEART!! Twice as big as the state of TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!," Abbott said.
