The Sight Below
The Sight Below is a new project by multi-instrumentalist and producer Rafael Anton Irisarri who released a much acclaimed album last year on Miamash. Signed to Ghostly International The Sight Below's music operates in half gestures, the feeling that you know what is going to happen, yet you are surprised anyway. Reverberated guitars drowned in beautiful 4/4 repetition, consciousness melts away.
Neotropic
Since the mid-1990s, Riz Maslen has been a prominent figure on the electronic music scene in the U.K. and internationally. She has released recordings on the Ninja Tune imprint Ntone, Mush and Councilfolk (her own label founded with Paul Jason Fredericks). Her ambient, post-rock soundscapes in her distinctively introspective style are strongly influenced by film. Her music itself combines found sounds, thoughtful orchestrations, and contemplative cadencesógestures toward cinematic representations of places and moods.
Spandex
Matt Southall has released on Hand on the Plow (Boomkat's single of the week), Spymania, and Cristian Vogel's Sleep Debt label. Deeply wonkybeats which span Techno and Electro with style collide with intricate glitch percussion all wrapped up in his skintight production secrets. He can also bee found on Hand on the Plow's most twisted project, Pleated Lemmon, toghether with Richard Dytch. All this and a sense of humor...
Signer
Signer is Bevan Smith who lives in Wellington, New Zealand and records for Carpark Records USA as well as Type records as Skallander (pairing up with Matthew Mitchell) and for his own label Involve records. Signer creates enveloping ambient aural scapes, heavily influenced by the whole Berlin sound ñ modal vistas slide across the surface of reverb underscored by deep bass rhythms. |
