| Pensive is a band that’s melancholy in name only, because there’s nothing pensive about these four young powerpop rockers. Road warriors with more than 30 states under their belts, these self-proclaimed gypsies “pump a high octane blend of sharp hooks, smart lyrics, and edgy melodies through a rhythm engine that’s become one of the hottest on the US touring circuit” according to No Cover Magazine. With a remix by David Bendeth, the San Diego band’s single “Live Fast” is set to impact radio and ring some digital cash registers in anticipation of the summer re-release of their album Artifacts as a Special Edition with distribution help from Fontana. Produced by 90’s pop punk hero Will Salazar, Artifacts is fantastic mix of melodic rock and profound pop, with the Special Edition’s Spanish bonus track “Soledad,” in more than a symbolic nod to audience unity, reminding us that lead singer Julio Godoy finds equal comfort in English and his native language. Joined by guitarist Patrick Smith, co-songwriter with Godoy, bassist Cody Moore, and drummer Jeremy Hough, the Pensive boys live in the van and trailer this summer with lots more touring to come.
