Biography

Placebo is:

Brain Molko- guitarist/vocals

Stefan Olsdal- bass

Steve Hewitt- drums

Placebo by Brian and Stefan in 1994, London, England. Brian is part Scottish and American, but was raised in Britain. Stefan was origionly from Sweeden. The two did not officially meet until 1994 at a Burger King. They formed a band, but needed a drummer. So they went and found, Steve Hewitt, and Robert Schultzberg to be their two drummers. Although Molko and Olsdal wanted Hewitt to be their main drummer, Steve wanted to go back to one of his previous bands called Breed. So now their one and only drummer was Robert. After all that was taken care of, Placebo signed a contract with Caroline Records. They then relesed their first album in 1996. The self-titled album was a huge hit in UK. The singles, \"Nancy Boy,\" and, \"Bruise Pristine,\" were also huge hits.

But even though they were sucessful right away, Robert felt as if he needed to leave the band. Luckly by that time, Brian had convinced Steve Hewitt to come back and drum for Placebo. His first gig with the band turned out to be a great one. It was at a major fan\'s house named David Bowie. BOwie personally invited them to come play at his 50th birthday bash in 1997. The next year in 1998, Placebo switched to Virgin Records. They then relesed, \"Without You, I\'m Nothing,\" in November. By now they were starting to get more known in the US. MTV helped on that one, they loved Placebo\'s song, \"Pure Morning.\"

In spring, 2003, they relesed, \"Sleeping With Ghosts,\" another big hit.

Brian Molko

Brian was born on December 10, 1972 in Luxembourg. He had his first sexual expierence at the young age of 14 with a girl also 14. When he was 16, he had his first bisexual expierence with a guy. In high school, he was a fag and when he went into arts, it didn\'t help his reputation at all! He is currently bisexual.

Stefan Olsdal

Stefan was born on March 31, 1974. He is nationally Sweedish. He began playing drums in the school orchestra, but relized he would rather be in a band. Unlike Brian, he was a sporty-jock and was very popular. He soon got into playing bass and at the same time piano. He also grew up in Luxembourg.

Steve Hewitt

Steve was born on March 22, 1971. His nationality is Manchester, UK. He is the drummer in Placebo. He has been in many different bands such as, Electric Crayons, K-Klass, Mystic Deckchairs, The Boo Radlys, and Breed. At age 26, he had a pregnant girlfriend and needed a job. So he became a truck driver. He found out he couldn\'t function without playing. So he joined Placebo once again. He is the only member who is fully homosexual.

placebo is one of the few honest bands out there that actually knows how to write. i have a very high respect for them.
