My Bio: I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I moved to New Orleans in 1979, then moved to Boston in 1981, I studied guitar with Mordy Ferber and Oscar Stagnaro, played with the Leo Islas Quintet, John Payne, Grupo Galaxia,etc. I moved back to New Orleans in 1991 where I took lessons with Hank Mackie,I also took a couple of lessons with the great Richie Zellon, I've played with: Brasilliance, Acoustic Swiftness, Elegant Gypsy, Anaconda, Bob Folse, Fuego, Samba Rio, Casa Samba, Hector Gallardo and his Songo Allstars, Joe Canoura's Jazz Trio, Kike Bonilla's Latin Jazz, Otra, Los Vecinos, Mas Mamones, Mayabeque, Ricardo Crespo, Cubanismo, Mark Bingham's New Orleans Jazz Allstars, Impulso, Shango, Ancestro,John Boutte and The Yockamo Allstars, Patrice Fisher's Arpa,etc.. I've played guitar and bass and arranged and sometimes directed "Fredy Omar con su Banda". I've performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival every year for the last 12 years as a freelance musician. I've played with or opened for: Cubanismo, Tito puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ruben Blades, Gilberto SantaRosa, Maraca, Teatro Milenio, Poncho Sanchez, Arturo Sandoval, Los Van Van, Manolin "El Doctor De La Salsa", Ricardo Lemvo, Los Sobrinos Del Juez, Jimmy Buffet's Millenium Party..etc.. I've performed at Cafe Brasil, Cafe Istambul, Blue Nile, House of Blues, Tipitinas, Ray's Over The River, Snug Harbor, Cafe Satora, Vaquero's, Banditos, Apple Barrel, Tulane university, Loyola University, WWOZ Radio Station, Channel 4, etc...
I'm currently recording a new Cd..almost finished.I Like: Most Styles of Music, chinese food, peruvian music and food, women.... I Dislike: Liers, people that are stuck-up, people that can only talk about themselves. Craziest thing I've ever done: Survive Katrina. My Quote: tooroorooy!! |
