My Bio: Kevin Dyer lived in Cincinnati, Ohio until he was 14 yrs. old. In 1980 he ran away to St. Louis, Missouri. He lived on the west side of town, which was consider to be the heart of the inner city, In 1982, Kevin formed the group called Kings of Soul. The group used their talents and skills by rhyming to cover numerous topics, but the group separated shortly after due to creative differences. Kevin left the name Kings of Soul behind along with the members because of the reputation the group created for themselves.
In early 1990 , He formed a group called Blackmales. He calls the group, “the new street reporters of the 20th century”. They use vocal and rhythmic melodies, to send messages throughout the inner city. Their messages teach of the new perspective of black males rising up from the violent era of the 20th century. Through Kevin , the group will also spread their messages throughout America.
So far, it hasn’t been easy for him. He was poverty- stricken and became “homeless!” He spent 3 an a half to 5 yrs, on the city streets: sleeping in vacant buildings and parks while trying to survive in that situation. “I almost gave up on myself and I was to the point to where I would have made a deal with the devil by selling drugs and gang-banging .So I stayed in the streets trying to survive, never really given into the negative side that was always trying to get me to give the o.k. that is a struggle in itself”. He is indeed a fighter.
With Blackmales, He travels in the opposite direction of Kings of Soul. Blackmales speak of caring for the human race, demolishing foul lyrics and changing the negative attitudes against black women. “I’m not trying to be a leader, when your a leader and have followers you speak out for your people. I’m not a famous speaker or leader, but I am straight from the root. I’ve been where everybody is! Therefore, it makes it easier for me to relate and communicate with my people.
In 1990 he started an Entertainment Company called NeverAgain Entertainment. The reason first was to help fund Cases a non-for-profit Organization he formed as well. One the name was taken (Cases) he put it on the back burner for some time. Never for getting about it but thinking more on the Entertainment Company and finding way’s for it to work. Looking for talent was not the problem his problem came in trying to find some help for his artist. Production was the problem. “Know one wanted to help me in what I was trying to do, going around asking brother to sign my artist to a production deal with them. This was so crazy to me because everyone was saying that they wanted to do something in this business but know one wanted to come together and do something as a unit”. So I lost many artist do to lack of production, most have went on to become well known artist. Many local label’s have made some noise here in St.Louis but none have set the standard here. But NeverAgain Entertainment will set this standard for the mid west to build from. NeverAgain Entertainment will not allow their artist’s to be controlled by people who don’t have their interest in mind. NeverAgain Entertainment will speak out so the whole world will see where they are coming from. “It’s time to change the game never again will our out side enemy’s control us”.
